Hot pot is not my favorite, but my entire family loves it. They have plenty of choices and I really like the sauce bar. The ice cream was surprisingly good. The night we went they were slammed with an after Christmas crowd, so it took forever to get a refill of soup. Everyone was very kind, despite the crowd. The tables are tiny and crowded together. They only have two tables that seat more than four. I would love to see them expand into a larger space.
Volcano Hot Pot in Carrollton is a hot pot enthusiast's paradise! Whether you're a seasoned pro or dipping your toes into a hot pot for the first time, this spot guarantees a delicious and entertaining experience.
The hot pot journey is a taste sensation! Their signature volcano broth, especially the spicy version, is a flavorful explosion – each spoonful bursts with delightful tastes. You're in control of the spice level, turning every bite into your unique adventure. The menu boasts a variety of fresh ingredients like meats, seafood, and veggies, creating a top-notch meal. And here's the kicker – you get to be the chef, cooking it all yourself right at your table – talk about a cool dining experience!
The ambiance is as cool as the food! Stylish decor and comfy seats create a laid-back yet lively atmosphere. The staff knows their hot pot game and guides you through the experience. Even during busy hours, they handle the rush well, always ready to assist. Now, it's not a run-of-the-mill budget-friendly spot, but the portion sizes are generous – you're getting value for your money. Volcano Hot Pot in Carrollton isn't just about a meal; it's a flavor-packed adventure that transforms dinner into a memorable experience.
This hotpot is by far my favorite one, they are different from other hotpot restaurants in that they let you get the meat you need!
You no longer have to keep asking the waiter for your order!
Although their slices of meat are thin, you can take as much as you want.
They also have a wide variety of vegetables, and they don't just give you a little bit.
The food on their rotating track is wrapped in plastic wrap to ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the food.
The disadvantage is that it is a bit of a waste of plastic wrap. Even if the food you want is not waiting for you on the carousel, you can still order from the waiter.
The only downside was the ice cream, which didn't taste like ice cream at all.
I went here because someone in my family saw a Facebook vid about this place. Skeptical about media in general I was thought I was prepared for disappointment.
The location is located in the back of a shopping center that was extremely busy when we went in 830 on Friday. Be prepared to fight for parking spots and drive defensively against some very bad drivers.
The restaurant is in a shotgun style space narrow in width but quite deep. Formerly the location was part of a exceptional buffet that I ate five years ago, but sadly succumbed to the covidness.
Consequently we had to wait about 30 min to get a table.
Conveyor belt in between the tables was extremely disappointing. It was a metal link type belt that paraded sad dry vegetables in cling wrap covered bowls.
The meats, seafood and desserts were located by the front door. You just grab what you needed. Meats are decent in quality. The short ribs are marinated in a satay sauce. A welcome difference.
We chose the 31.99 hot pot and grill option. A very good price I would admit.
I chose the tom yum broth; it was very good, but oddly they don't have soup spoons to taste the broth.
Couple of food notes:
The only fish balls they had were the stuffed Taiwanese ones. I usually find those disagreeable
Canned longans were in the dessert area.
They weren't skimpy on the seafood.
The stock was kept up, they didn't run out of anything.
Our server was horrible! She took a long time to get our drink and soup order (15 min). Also she took a long time to get refills for our drinks. Exasperated, I requested two sprites (2.95 free refills). She looked bewildered at my request and served me one drink
When we were about to leave, she moped toward the front and was talking to another server, about how she was not going to get a tip. Yes, I actually heard that when I passed her by. She was on the verge of tears, but we did leave a tip.
If you're not going to provide service and act like you don't want to be there, you shouldn't be serving customers. The woman has a mousy appearance and if you're going to this restaurant, please choose another server.
Overall, the restaurant was fair but the service left a bad impression for me. Don't fall for the gimmick of the conveyor belt, it's not that impressive.
Very good atmosphere nice background music, service was spot on our first time here and she was very helpful. Soup base I did original and was a great base to build your own flavor profile off of. My wife chose the tom yum and was a good balance of light spice and tang if that's your thing. The vegetable belt was great with lots of fresh choices. Seafood and meats didn't disappoint. Will be back
This restaurant offers ayce hotpot. You can also get access to the kbbq for an additional $5. When we got there, there was a 20 minute wait. So make sure you get there early because the waits can get pretty long.
If you're doing the hotpot, you order a soup base and then you can go grab any of the soup toppings on the side. Additionally, there's a conveyor belt that brings around additional veggies and soup toppings (this was personally my favorite part).
Overall, I liked this restaurant for its novelty. The hotpot itself is pretty standard.
Had a very nice experience and lunch at this yet another hotpot place. This is a chinese hotpot so the soup is different. I had the herbal broth which was really on point. I might try one of their spicier offering next time. Didnt get the BBQ option but I think its just a few dollars more for the combo. The meat selection is not as wide as the other korean places but still quality was decent and the sauce bar lets you be really creative with your dipping sauces. If John is your server, he will even make you his secret recipe dipping sauce. I just had the lamb and beef options on the hotpot but partake more of the not-so-common items on the seafood/balls/etc portion. Conveyor belt is cute, kids seems to love it. But the vegetable selection is also not very large but they do have the basics and the various soy-based products they had was also different from others
Went back for a second time:
This time got the combo which is really kind of a no-brainer. For not much more, you can eat all all the LA Kalbi you want. The marinade is different, slight sweeter and more garlicky than your typical KBBQ place but its still really delicious. This time around, they were offering blue crabs so I took advantage of it also. Great food, fair price and great service again
Went back for the (lost count) time:
This time the crabs were spot on. Brought a guest from Maryland and he thought the crabs were really good for buffet crabs. Needless to say we spent most of our belly space on crabs and lamb brisket. Such a powerful combo.
We waited for a while trying to find ANY employee once we walked in. The place seemed to be deserted by staff. When we finally got a table, our server was weirdly aggressive the entire time and cut off our BBQ in the middle of our visit. She also had an air pod in the entire time, we had to repeat ourselves frequently as a result. Fun place but the service pretty much ruined it. The hot pot was good and they had a good selection. Also it's super cold in there all the time. Server also sat on her phone next to our table while we waited for her to pick up our check. Don't waste your time or money. Very disappointed since we drove from way out of town and added half an hour to our route just to stop here.
